With faith of a mustard seed, a man can move mountains…such
was the faith of our brother Gene.
After assuming the post of Provincial Maritime Commander of
Region 1, PSUPT Genesis Tolejano was assigned with a onerous task of patrolling
the expansive extent of the Lingayen Bay. Making it more difficult was the fact
that he had to do it with only three patrol boats.
But he had faith and it was enough for him to shine in an
assignment with minimal resource.
Learning the situation of his office, his brothers from the
CORPS Movement spurred on the idea to conduct and support raising activity that
will help him to raise a water asset for his men. PSUPT Eric Noble, Boi Manuel,
Dan Afuang and Bro. Jojo Dellosa who visited Col. Tolejano in Dagupan last year
connected him with Christian brothers who have a heart with the police.
The Christian Evangelical Ministers Fellowship of Dagupan
led by their police ministry head Ptr. Jun Centeno, More the Conquerors
Business Club led by their Chairman Ashok Vasadani and Adsense Marketing led by
Aries Aguilar grouped together and helped Col. Tolejano to design a marathon
that would not only help him in his campaign to raise funds for a water asset
but also spread awareness about the dangers of dynamite fishing and the need
for environmental protection in the Lingayen Gulf.
Last April 21, 2012, the event (dubbed as the Bangus Run
which officially started the weeklong Bangus Festival of Dagupan City) came to
fruition with astounding success. One thousand runners from all over Pangasinan
and beyond came and supported the event. The business sector, local government,
students and Pangasinense from all walks of life came and supported the event.
Surely a mustard faith could go a long way…
(As of writing the CEMF of Dagupan, is already securing a
boat which will be turned over to the PNP-Maritime Office)
